After living in the U.S. ashram of a Hindu religious organization for 14 years, I woke up one day to discover that the head guru was a rapist, including children. After the shock wore off, I prepared a plan to escape the cult. But I did not only want to save myself. I wanted to try and help save others, too — both people already in the cult and people considering joining the organization.
Sex, Lies, and Two Hindu Gurus
My first task was to write a book about my experiences in the organization, including what I had learned after the head guru was arrested for rape in Trinidad and Tobago in May 2007. The result is Sex, Lies, and Two Hindu Gurus. Writing this book required me to conduct deep research. This meant I had to face the dark side of the organization — and its secretive, hidden world that until then I did not know existed. The result is a book that is full of the raw truth about this dark organization and its dark, dark guru. It reveals all the secrets that Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat never wanted people outside of its inner circle to know.
Sex God: The Secret Life of a Dark, Dark Guru
In early 2015, I added a second book, Sex God — The Secret Life of a Dark, Dark Guru. This book focuses solely on the crimes of the now-deceased guru, who went by the name of Shri Jagadguru Kripalu Maharajji (his true name, Ram Tripathi) of Mangarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. It pulls back the curtain on a long-running criminal enterprise in which the guru’s closest female devotees fed him a daily diet of women and underage girls for his sexual pleasure. This book explains how the daily sex factory worked, shares some of the victims’ stories, and more.
